As the US wades into the legislative arena with their AI Bill of Rights, data and AI ethics and regulation are now unavoidable issues in data processes. With five pillars of rights, the bill should protect against the worst impacts of AI bias, although the question remains whether the bill has any teeth to enforce meaningful change. The EU AI Act has also undergone a major change in response to generative AI and we will bring you an update on the concept of 'foundational' technologies, now part of the Act, which may pass parliament later this year.
